Activities
BAM operates as a makerspace providing spaces, equipment, and supplies to enable a variety of activities using an agile framework responsive to community needs.
Activity Areas
- Computer Programming — Coding instruction and projects
- Microcomputers — Arduino and Raspberry Pi development
- Basic Electronics — Circuit work and projects
- Robotics — Including FIRST Robotics programs (FTC)
- Textile Crafting — Sewing and fabric-based projects
- Rapid Prototyping — 3D printing capabilities
- Carpentry & Woodworking — Basic wood fabrication
- Metal Fabrication — Cutting, machining, and assembly
How Activities Are Organized
Activities are organized through affinity groups based on member interests. These groups sponsor workshops, presentations, and community projects with volunteer coordination and expertise sharing.
FIRST Robotics
BAM partners with UVM 4-H and FIRST Robotics to provide hands-on problem solving, robot building, communication, design, and program coding to our community. We run two programs:
- FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) — for middle and high school students
No experience in coding or robotics is needed — we are in this together to learn together.
